LandEx Earthworks serves a wide swath of Southwest Colorado from our base in Durango, covering La Plata County, Archuleta County, and the Montezuma County area. Most of our work is on rural, ranch, and mountain properties, so traveling to outlying sites is simply part of what we do. What sets local work apart here is the terrain itself, which changes from town to town, and 20+ years of experience reading it. Below is the area we cover and what makes each part of it distinct. Our home base. From the Animas Valley floor to the steep lots above town, we work every kind of Durango terrain, from custom home site development in the hills to driveway repair after spring melt.
BAYFIELD, CO
Long rural driveways and ranch access roads off the HWY 160 corridor are common here. We build and repair them to hold up through heavy use and snowmelt, plus full site work for Bayfield-area builds.
HESPERUS, CO
The clay-heavy soils on the dry side of the county drain differently and demand a base built for them. We grade, prep, and install septic and driveways with those conditions in mind.
IGNACIO, CO
Ranch and agricultural property work, access roads, land improvement, and site development across the Ignacio area and the surrounding rural parcels.

Do you travel outside Durango for projects?
Yes. While Durango is our home base, most of our work is on rural and mountain properties spread across La Plata and Archuleta County. Travel to outlying properties is a normal part of what we do. For projects near the edge of our range, call and we will let you know honestly whether it is a good fit.
Why does local experience matter for excavation in Southwest Colorado?
Because the ground changes from town to town. Hesperus clay drains differently than Animas Valley soil, Pagosa's snowload stresses driveways harder than Durango's, and steep Hermosa lots demand water control that flat ground never needs. Twenty-plus years working this specific terrain means we build for the conditions your property actually has, not a generic spec.
Do you handle permitting in La Plata County?
We build to La Plata County standards for driveways and septic systems, and we can help navigate the permitting process, including coordinating perc testing and working with San Juan Basin Public Health on septic installations. We keep compliance in mind from the first day so projects pass inspection.
