SOUTHWEST COLORADO FLOOD RECOVERY

FLOOD DAMAGE RECOVERY DURANGO, CO

Washed-out driveways, blown culverts, mud, sediment, timber, debris, and eroded slopes. After the Southwest Colorado floods, the ground and the access around your property take the damage, and that is exactly what LandEx fixes. We rebuild what the water took and correct the drainage that let it happen.

EARTHWORK RECOVERY, NOT INTERIOR RESTORATION

Flood Relief That Gets Your Property and Access Back

The recent flooding across Southwest Colorado hit roads, driveways, culverts, and slopes hard. After a flood, most of the lasting damage to a rural or mountain property is outside: the drive that washed out, the culvert that packed with debris or blew apart, the sediment spread across a field or pad, the slope that slumped above the house. That is earthwork, and it is what LandEx specializes in. When your access is cut off and the water has moved the ground itself, you need a contractor with the fleet to put it right, not a cleanup crew.

We are an excavation and site development contractor, not a water-damage restoration company. We do not do interior drying or mold work. What we handle is the ground: rebuilding washed-out driveways and roads, clearing and replacing culverts and ditches, removing debris and sediment, stabilizing eroded slopes, and rebuilding the drainage that failed. LandEx is registered on the SAM.gov Disaster Response Registry and available for emergency earthwork response across La Plata and Archuleta County.

DISASTER RECOVERY EARTHWORK

What We Repair After a Flood

Tap any item to see what the recovery involves.

WASHED-OUT DRIVEWAY & ROAD REPAIR

Floodwater running down the driving surface cuts ruts, strips gravel, and undermines the base. We rebuild the crown, replace lost road base, restore the drainage that failed, and compact the surface so it holds through the next storm rather than washing out again.

CULVERT & DITCH CLEARING AND REPLACEMENT

Culverts pack with debris and sediment during a flood, or blow out entirely, and the water then finds a new path across your property. We clear, resize, and replace culverts, reopen ditches and outlets, and get water moving where it should again.

MUD, SEDIMENT, DEBRIS & TIMBER REMOVAL

Floods bury driveways, pads, fields, and access routes under mud, silt, rock, downed timber, and woody debris, sometimes feet of it. We clear and haul it off, or mulch woody material and fallen timber on site, strip the sediment back to solid ground, and restore the surface underneath so the property is usable again.

SLOPE STABILIZATION & EROSION REPAIR

Saturated hillsides slump, slopes scour, and banks cut back toward structures. We stabilize failed slopes, repair erosion, place rock and boulder armoring where water hits hardest, and reshape ground so the next runoff event does less damage.

DRAINAGE REBUILDS

When a flood overwhelms a property's drainage, the fix is rarely just cleanup. We rebuild swales, regrade to move water off the surface, and size drainage for the kind of runoff this region now sees, so the recovery lasts instead of failing in the spring.

EMERGENCY ACCESS RESTORATION

A washed-out drive or a blocked private road can cut a property off entirely. We prioritize restoring safe access first, then move into the fuller repair, so you can get in and out while the rest of the work is scheduled.

RECOVER ONCE, NOT EVERY SEASON

We Fix the Cause, Not Just the Cleanup

Anyone with a loader can push mud off a driveway and call it done. The problem is that a flood usually exposes a drainage weakness that was already there: an undersized culvert, a lost crown, a ditch that was never cut, runoff with nowhere to go. Clean up the surface and leave the cause, and the next storm or spring melt does the same damage again.

LandEx runs a complete excavation fleet, so the full recovery happens as one coordinated project with one contractor. We rebuild the washed-out sections, replace and resize the culverts, reopen the ditches, stabilize the slopes, and regrade so water leaves the property the way it should. You pay for the repair once, and it holds, instead of paying again after every storm and spring melt.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Flood Recovery FAQ, Durango, CO

Do you handle flood cleanup inside the home, or only outside?

LandEx handles the earthwork and outdoor property recovery: driveways, roads, culverts, ditches, debris and sediment removal, slope stabilization, erosion repair, and drainage. We are not a water-damage restoration company and do not do interior drying, mold remediation, or structural interior work. For inside-the-home water damage, you want a licensed restoration company. We focus on what happens to the ground and the access around your property.

My driveway washed out in the flood. Can you fix it?

Yes. Washed-out driveways are one of the most common flood-recovery calls we get. We rebuild the crown so water sheds off instead of running down the drive, replace the base material the flood carried away, repair or replace culverts and ditches that failed, and compact the surface so the repair holds. If the flood exposed a deeper drainage problem, we fix the cause, not just the surface.

A culvert on my property is blocked or blew out. What do you do?

We clear culverts packed with flood debris and sediment, resize them when the old one was too small for the water this region now gets, and replace culverts that failed or washed out. We also reopen the ditches and outlets that feed them. A clear culvert does no good if the ditch above it is still blocked, so we fix the whole water path in one visit.

How fast can you respond to flood damage?

We prioritize flood recovery and emergency access restoration. Call or text 970-946-6905 and describe what you are seeing, with photos if you have them. We schedule based on severity, with cut-off access and active erosion toward structures taking priority. We are registered on the SAM.gov Disaster Response Registry and available for emergency earthwork response in Southwest Colorado.

The flood eroded a slope above my house. Is that something you repair?

Yes. Saturated slopes slump and scour during a flood, and the erosion often keeps cutting back toward structures afterward. We stabilize failed slopes, repair the erosion, place rock and boulder armoring where water concentrates, and reshape the ground so the next runoff does less damage. Slope and erosion work is core to what we do.

What does flood recovery earthwork cost?

It depends entirely on the damage: how much was washed out, how far debris spread, what drainage and culvert work is needed, access, and how much base material has to be rebuilt. Every flooded property is different, so we do not quote ballpark numbers over the phone. We assess on site and provide an itemized proposal. Call or text 970-946-6905 to get on the schedule.

What areas do you serve for flood recovery?

LandEx Earthworks provides flood-recovery earthwork across Durango, Bayfield, Hesperus, Ignacio, Hermosa, Vallecito, and Pagosa Springs, covering La Plata County and Archuleta County in Southwest Colorado. Call or text 970-946-6905 to confirm your property is in range.
